  • Where can I get updated fishing reports and lake conditions?

     

    Visit the Missouri Conservation Despartment’s website for all updated information on Mozingo Lake from April – October. Their website is http://fishing.mdc.mo.gov/reports/mozingo-lake. There you can find how each species is doing; the best baiting practices; water temperature; and lake conditions. Any calls received will be given the same information.

  • What are the most common types of fish here at Mozingo Lake?

     

    We’re known for our excellent bass and crappie fishing. Walleye, channel catfish and blue gill are also very prevalent in the lake.

  • Do you sell fishing permits at the park?

     

    No. Guests will want to purchase their fishing permits online at http://mdc.mo.gov/permits; or purchase them in town at Wal-Mart or Big Bird’s Bait.

  • Do I need a fishing permit to cast a line into Mozingo Lake?

     

    Everyone who fishes must have the appropriate Missouri lifetime, annual or daily fishing permit, or qualify for an exemption. Those who are exempt include Missouri residents over the age of 65 years; Missouri residents or non-residents under the age of 16; active military; and honorably discharged veterans.   • Do you sell bait?

     

    Yes! Nightcrawlers and minnows will be sold in the Information Booth from May-September, when fishing and camping are at their peak.

  • What are the daily limits on fishing at Mozingo Lake?

     

    Daily limit is six (6) for largemouth bass; thirty (30) for crappie; four (4) for walleye; four (4) for catfish; and twenty (20) for all other fish combinations (bluegill, carp, etc).

  • What type of fishing techniques are permitted on the lake?

     

    Pole and line fishing only.

  • Where can I clean my fish at the lake?

     

    There is a motorized fish cleaning station at the Main Boat Ramp; and a manual grind fish cleaning station at the City Boat Ramp.

  • Where do I dump my bait?

     

    Please dump all leftover bait on the grass or (if possible) use for your next fishing trip here at Mozingo Lake. Please do not throw bait into the lake.
